The Federal Emergency Management Agency has taken care of some Hurricane Katrina victims since 2005. Now, in order to avoid the same situation should a hurricane strike Florida, they have devised a plan.

In a stroke of bureaucratic genius, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has decided to place hurricane victims in foreclosed housing in the hopes that two tragedies can become positive when combined.
The plan, reported by the Associated Press Wednesday, is designed to keep hurricane victims close to their communities, rather than scatter them to neighboring states, as was done with the survivors of Katrina.
The AP reports that FEMA will compile a list of foreclosed homes, and, in the event of an emergency, place victims in those homes. Rent will be paid directly to the banks or lien-holders by the taxpayers. Continue reading →
