In a move that’s sure to spark bewilderment and consternation, the Nobel Peace Prize Committee has selected Barack Hussein Obama–mmm, mmm, mmm–to be the 2009 recipient of the award.

Stunning. Befuddling. Disturbing. Words that used to be used to describe Nancy Pelosi’s plastic surgery can now be applied to the Nobel committee once again. After choosing pseudo-religious environmentalist Al Gore in 2007 for his film, An Inconvenient Truth, the Nobel group has apparently decided to award the president its highest award for… hope?
In a statement issued by the committee, Obama was being honored for his “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.” Also cited by the Oslo, Norway group was Obama’s push to make the United Nations a preeminent force in international relations.
“Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future,” the committee’s chairman gushed. And so the committee is giving this year’s peace award for the promise of hope and change. If you listen carefully in Oslo, you can just hear the members of the Nobel group chanting “Yes we can!”
If you examine the president’s actual foreign policy decisions, it’s easy to see why the world would award him such an honor. In just a few short months, Obama has:
- Announced troop withdrawals from Iraq.
- Recently decided that Al-Qaida, not the Taliban, is our enemy in Afghanistan–a decision that will likely allow the radicals to retake that nation and destroy whatever semblance of freedom the United States “unilaterally imposed.”
- Chastised the people and government of Honduras for constitutionally removing a president that attempted to become a Chavez-like dictator in that country.
- Apologized to every group imaginable for the evils of the United States, discarded our alliances with Britain and Israel, and made it known that the United States was more interested in equating itself with the other nations of the world instead of standing as the global leader.
- Removed vital protections of missile defense from Eastern Europe, alienating the Poles, Czechs, and others that expected U.S. shielding from potential pressure from Russia or Iran.
- Rebuffed the Dalai Lama because of pressure from the Chinese government.
- Hired a Treasury Secretary who advanced the possibility of a world currency to replace the U.S. dollar as the global standard.
- Allowed a policy of monetization that is devaluing the dollar and causing a rumble that will inevitably result in a tsunami of inflation in the future.
- Refused to adamantly condemn the violence against protesters in Iran after fraudulent “elections” put Ahmadinejad back into power; Obama’s “warnings” came after the incidents had already begun to subside.
- Neutered the Central Intelligence Agency, allowing potential terrorists more room to move and act against the United States and its people.
- Published reports of “torture” against prisoners of war, a practice which gained information vital to stopping further terrorist actions against the nation.
- Campaigned for the Olympics to be held in his home city of Chicago–a move that would have made his associates millions of dollars–even though the city is under siege from gangs and crime.
Actually, when you lay it all out there, it’s easy to see why the world loves Obama. And why, after he returns from Oslo with his shiny new award, he should be arrested for crimes against the state. Incidentally, Theodore Roosevelt, who won the same award in 1906, only brought Russia and Japan together to end the Russo-Japanese War.

Haha, Pelosi’s plastic surgery is very befuddling.
