In a stunning stltoday.com story, two black students were shown on tape beating a white student who had tried to find a seat on a school bus yesterday. The crowd, made up of other black students, cheered as the beating took place. Upon further review, the Belleville Police say the crime wasn’t racially motivated.

>> UPDATE (Morning, 9/16/09): Apparently, I have arrived as a provocative conservative blogger, and my comments are beginning to antagonize those who disagree. When a fellow blogger on the opposite site of the sociopolitical spectrum wrote an entire blog based on my piece below, that pleased me to no end. Of course, in typical liberal fashion, this blogger misconstrues and misstates my position–for example, s/he claims I use the Duke lacrosse case in my story–but it is satisfying to know that I can provide enough material for others to piggyback and write entire blogs. As of yet, the students who perpetrated this crime have not been formally charged with any crime, hate or otherwise. Those who disagree that this crime was racially motivated seem to think that, because there were one or two white kids on the bus, this cannot be a racial crime. Somehow I doubt that if a group of white teenagers lynched a black student, for example, that they would not be charged with a hate crime if the defense could find a couple of other scared black students in the vicinity. The premise is insulting and ridiculous, but it is what we are coming to expect from Barack Obama’s post-racial America.
This story is disturbing in and of itself. Any unprovoked physical attack like the one displayed on this video is enough to make one’s blood boil and desire for justice rise.
But the really outrageous element is the way the authorities have handled the beating. According to stltoday.com, Belleville Police Capt. Don Sax said originally that the assault was racially motivated. Today, Sax has retracted his statement, saying that the act of two black students punching a white student in the face repeatedly while other black students chanted “Boom, boom, boom!” and “Beat his ass!” did not have a racial component.
Allow me to assume the role of the great Twilight Zone host Rod Serling for a moment. Picture if you will, the roles in this scene are reversed, and a bus full of white students cheers while two of their ethnic compatriots savagely batter a black student who simply wanted to sit down. Not only would it be instantly called a “hate crime,” but, by Monday evening, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would have made the rounds on every sympathetic news program decrying the pattern of institutionalized racism in the schools. They would have talked about the bravery of the black student who simply wanted an education, who, like Rosa Parks, simply wanted a seat on the bus to acquire that education. They would have discussed how difficult it is to be a black student in a predominantly white school district. They would have demanded that all students in the school go through racial sensitivity classes to prevent such an act from ever taking place again. And they would have urged the powers-that-be to prosecute the case as a hate crime so the perpetrators would have received the harshest punishment possible under the law.
In this case, however, there are no community leaders to push for justice. This bus full of kids chanting while an ethnically different child is beaten will undergo no such racial sensitivity training. There will be no hate crime prosecution, if there is prosecution at all. Likely, the two teens who did the punching will get a slap on the wrist and be back on the bus within a week.
In our world of reverse discrimination and government education, perhaps the white student should be prosecuted for daring to sit next to a black student and invade that black student’s personal space. After all, did the black student’s people go through hundreds of years of slavery only to have one of their number share a bus seat with a child of the oppressors? Apparently not.
And conservatives are the racists in America?

This will only be tolerated for a very short period of time… like maybe a day or two.
Too many of these things have happened with the same result. No prosecution of blacks for hate crimes when had the situation been reversed the white kids would have been in jail.
This WILL start a race war, and not a cold one.

And if you are a white kid dating a black girl, it isn’t a hate crime if a group of black thugs beats you up.
So much for post-racial America. Thanks, Barak.

The result of this will be trouble for all Americans, since only the Whites are being targeted, both by incidents like this one, then by the justice system that turns a blind, colorblind eye when the perps are Black. The sleeping White majority is waking up, and if schools and cops and judges and society doesn’t stop with the reverse racism, there will be a race war in the streets as a result.

A commenter on Free Republic said that he lives in Belleville, IL and that local media reports seem to indicate that the perpetrators will be prosecuted. But what charges will they face? You’re absolutely correct that when there is a disparity, it causes problems for all, regardless of where that disparity comes or who it specifically hurts initially. So much for Obama’s new America…

According to an article publiched by the Belleville News Democrat on September 15th, both the Belleville West Principal, Bob Dahm, and the Superintendent, Greg Moats, are asking for a complete and thorough investigation. Belleville Police Captain Don Sax said that after watching a video of the incident recorded by the bus’ video camera, the incident has been deemed racially motivated and both of the black juvenile suspects will be petitioned Tuesday through the court for charges. And all of this was quickly done despite the best efforts of Reverends Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. So why would you say that there was no crime committed here?

I will leave brotherpeacemaker’s original comment here for demonstration purposes. I traded comments back and forth with him yesterday, only to find today that he was fishing for information to use in his blog (referenced above in the update). Just a word of ethical advice out there: If you would like to interview me for your use in a piece, then ask. Using my direct comments and using them to represent my entire piece (i.e. the Duke lacrosse comment) is misrepresentation and is unethical. Although, I suppose that asking for ethics from some bloggers is a bit much.

White people , it’s time to start fighting back. blacks are nothing but pigs, bullies.
we need to start beating them like they are doing to us.If this had been my kid that was beaten, i would have met those kids that done it, and shot them right in the face, then fed their black carcuses to the dogs. although i don’t thing the dogs would wnat them.

I will leave this comment up to simply demonstrate that there are idiots a-plenty on both sides of the issue. MN
