R.I.P. Mrs. Slocombe 1922-2009

In a very rare departure from politics, I wanted to post a small tribute to one of the best comic actresses of all time, Mollie Sugden.

by Michael Naragon

Best known for her role as Mrs. Slocombe on the highly successful sitcom Are You Being Served?, Sugden was among the elite in her profession.  She succumbed to a lengthy illness on Wednesday.  At the end of this clip, she and Miss Brahms (Wendy Richard, who also passed away this year) discuss Mrs. Slocombe’s impending “pregnancy.”

Good-bye dearest Mollie. Thank you for the many hours of fun and enjoyment you’ve given so many of us.

John, Wendy, and now Mollie…they must be having quite a lot of laughs in Heaven these days!

“And I am unanimous in that!” [s]
