The president plans health care shindigs on June 6, just a week after he gives the country an ultimatum on reform.

The continually campaigning Obama has struck again. On his personal web site, www.barackobama.com, the president has called for Americans to organize in order to “build a groundswell of support for real health care reform in every district and every state.”
The local Obama get-togethers that register with the website will be treated to a live conference call with the president, surely a thrill for those who wish to get a glimpse of the holy in everyday life.
Also, I assume the parties will offer a decidedly healthy board of fare featuring carrot sticks, celery, and tofu. Wouldn’t want people to raise their cholesterol before they have access to taxpayer-funded medical care.
“After decades of false starts,” the web site boasts, “the dream of quality, affordable health care for every American is finally within reach. Together, we’ll win health care reform the same way we won the election: Building support one block, one neighbor, one conversation at a time.”
Presumably, the mainstream media, who had a little more of a hand in the Obama election than the altruistic canvassing, will be invited to the events around the country. Looking at the Obama web site, I’ve found 37 of these pro-socialist events within 50 miles of my home in Covington.
So, as those who oppose this travesty and crime against the Constitution, what is our response?
The Constitutional Alamo has not yet been used to create a call for action–until today. Friends, I propose we organize a counter campaign to this pro-government charade.
Through Twitter, Facebook, and other means, we all have access to literally millions of fellow conservatives. Let’s plan on inviting our friends and relatives to cookouts around the country on Saturday, June 6, so we can express our opposition to government control over our lives and discuss real alternatives.
Our fathers, grandfathers, and uncles fought and died on the Normandy beaches on that day in 1944. My friends, let’s not allow this administration to use this day to push their socialist agenda and throw away the freedom that those men gave their lives to protect.
We should also have our own conference call from someone who can encourage us in our fight, who can elucidate the death spiral that is socialized medicine. My personal suggestion would be British parliamentarian Daniel Hannan, who could tell the simultaneous gatherings what the United States would become under Obama’s plan through his description of the British system.
We only have a week to organize this event, but the February Tea Parties were put together nearly as rapidly. Their impact now is obvious. The president said on Thursday that “If we don’t get [health care legislation] done this year, we’re not going to get it done.” This should be an encouragement to all to fight even harder.
Let’s show this administration that we will not lie down and be willing participants in the government takeover of our great nation. Join me and take a stand for freedom. A friend on Twitter, after I began pushing for this campaign, raised the point that Obama has called for this sort of action before and received a lukewarm response. If he receives the same sort of response this time, how much more is it vital that we do something to show our displeasure? If we are successful in bringing attention to this issue, even with something as simple as this barbecue, we will also be highlighting his failure to create the same type of public groundswell.
Oh, and for the record, FOXNews has nothing to do with this truly grass-roots movement. Take that, Keith Olbermann.

Not at the moment. I’d be willing to use this site for that, but I don’t have the technical know-how to do a site like that. If you want, I could use the blog to post those willing to host barbecues, however. Anyone else have a better idea? It could be used for any organizational purpose if it would help, though the name isn’t titled to associate with anything related (a generic name).

The wingnuttery is off the scale in here. You all whip yourselves up into such a fervor that you don’t even see how similar you are to the Taliban. Stop with the paranoia and persecution complex and come back to reality.
Ok, folks, here’s a good object lesson for you. The typical liberal, such as this, looks at conservatism as being on the road to fascism or Nazism. In this case, he/she uses the Taliban as his oppressive example.
Liberalism/progressivism, as defined in the 20th-21st century United States, is the only pathway to an oppressive government. If you take liberalism to its logical ends, as we are beginning to do in the U.S., you get more government until, finally, you reach totalitarianism.
If you take conservatism to its extreme, which few conservatives would advocate, you get less government until, finally, you reach a state of anarchy. The modern conservative/Constitutionalist places himself firmly in the middle of these two extremes, embracing laws to govern and a provision of defense, but attempting to keep government restrained from its natural inclinations.
The Taliban, in its fervency, seeks to dominate their culture by force and murder. The only ones making friends with and emulating such characters in our country, Mr. American, are those for which you likely voted. And, by the way, I, like the other patriotic Americans who favor freedom over government, do not have a persecution complex. The only thing being persecuted these days is our Constitution, but I understand liberals don’t have much interest in that.
Now, to those who are interested in our growing robust opposition to the June 6 Obama Kool-Aid fest, we have seven and a half days to get our Constitutionally protected assemblages together. Don’t be bullied by someone who would act as your superior and attempt to label you something you’re not. Tell your friends and make your plans!

I must disagree. I have seen a great many sites that are alarmed at the direction our government is currently taking and none of them are advocating any form of totalitarianism or religious government.
But, with the number and frequency of direct assaults on our consitution I can well understand what I have been seeing. That is, a lot of concern by citizens who believe in a constitutional government because it seems clear that if we don’t act now we will stand to lose that government forever.

I will appose anything that has to do with socialized healthcare. I have lived in Europe and know first hand how it works. You wait months before anything is done. Just ask the kids in the military how their government run healthcare works, you can’t even see a dermatologist unless it is a matter of life and death. It will be a sad day for this country if we go to that system. I do believe that the healthcare system should be revamped, but I say get rid of the legal system that allows lawyers frivolous lawsuits that force the costs up.
